Because the book is told from the point of view of particular characters, there are a lot of relationships that you don’t see, because they are behind closed doors. But in a television series they don’t have those constraints – they tell the story in a different way. And what you get from that is a lot more of those ‘behind closed doors’ moments with the characters – it gives you is all the relationships that make decisions happen. Loras Tyrell has a really close relationship with Renly, and that is powerful because they are affectionate together, and they have private moments together.
